Normal 0

By Jim Nettleton

You may be aware that, all over the country, auto auctions are in full swing at all times. What you may not be aware of is that you can easily find incredible bargains at these auctions that will enable you to purchase a vehicle very inexpensively and possibly even resell it for a profit.

The two leading sources of these auto auctions are banks and the government. In the case of the government, you can be dealing with the federal, state or local level. Banks auction repossessed vehicles, frequently for pennies on the dollar. They are not in the vehicle business and want to turn these unwanted possessions into cash as quickly as possible.

Increasing fuel mpg with water

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

A few weeks ago, I was asked to review a collection of e-books that provide full instructions on how to use excess energy from your car engine to split water into oxygen and hydrogen. The mixture, known as Brown’s gas, after its discoverer, is fed into the normal fuel flow of your car to give a huge increase in fuel mpg. This got me to wonder why all the hundreds of technical ideas that seem to offer real solutions to real problems have been completely ignored by the major car manufacturers.

automobile warranty

Before you choose a warranty plan, it is important to know what things generally aren’t covered under any plan. For instance, your car insurance covers things like exterior paint damage, collision damage and broken glass. You, as the consumer, are responsible for headlamps, taillights, bulbs, trim, moldings, upholstery, exhaust systems, tires, batteries, brake rotors, drums, struts, shock absorbers, oil changes, air filters and tune ups. It is possible for you to get “wear and tear” extended warranty coverage, which includes things like suspension or drive train components (transmission & axles). Parts like ball joints, camshafts, bearings and piston rings can cost you hundreds and are only covered under comprehensive wear and tear plans.

Common Areas Of Concern On Warranty Plans

extended auto warranty

I think you have to automatically assume a 100 percent markup,” Phil Reed, consumer advice editor at Edmunds.com, said about car dealerships offering warranty plans. The misconception about shopping around for an extended warranty quote online is that all the companies operate solely on the internet, with no formal establishment. However, car dealerships spend a good deal of time “shopping around” online as well. One of the most lucrative aspects of the car sales industry is the extended auto warranty. Many consumers are shocked to learn that car dealerships function like any other retail outlet, marking up not just the cars but all of the finer details as well. It makes sense, then, to do a little homework online and figure out what a reasonable price should be, prior to hunting for cars.

Ethanol Derived From Biomass

Saturday, November 8th, 2008

Ethanol has emerged as the premier alternative fuel to replace gasoline and lessen our dependence on fossil fuels. In Brazil for example, 8 out of every 10 cars on the road already run on ethanol derived from the sugar cane plant. In part, the United States is the largest producer and exporter of ethanol derived from corn. But is it a good idea to use a food source to produce a fuel?
