With the cost of fuel today, many people are turning to hybrid car technology to save fuel and money. Many people think that the main point of hybrid cars is for the protection of the environment as well as saving on fuel costs. Before you go out and buy one though, there are a few things you should know.
The mileage you achieve with the hybrid is the first thing you need to look at. Obviously though, these automobiles have a much better mileage than normal cars of the same size. However, there are a few other factors that you should consider when you are buying a hybrid that may make the savings on mileage unimportant. You will save money with a hybrid car on the amount of fuel you will need, but the cost of the vehicles may mean that it takes you years to recover the added expense of buying a hybrid.

Honda hybrid cars became available on the market in 1990′s and they were introduced in the United States in 1999. The model called Honda Insight was the first one that became available to us buyers and soon Toyota Prius followed Honda’s model. Apparently Honda hybrid models are not sold as well as the Toyota ones even though in the United States Honda has taken the lead. One Honda hybrid that set a record in terms of selling in 2004 is the Civic Hybrid. The number of Honda hybrid models sold on the market since 1999 when Insight was released until 2006 surpassed that of 100,000. Most of these models have found owners in the United States, next come Japan, Europe and Canada.

Ever wondered why increasingly more people are buying hybrid cars instead of cars that uses gas despite the fact that hybrids are so much expensive? What is so good about buying a hybrid car like Toyota Prius?
The fact is – it’s worth the cost to pay for a hybrid. With a hybrid car, you can reduce fuel expenditure in half than those who own similar combustion engine cars do. This is because there are two engines sharing the work in a hybrid car. The first engine is still an internal combustion engine but the other one consists of an electric motor with batteries. By combining two types of engines, the car earns the name “hybrid”. The combination of power sources also means your car runs quieter, emits less fumes into the air andruns far more efficiently than conventional cars. These are the main advantages of hybrid cars.

Nissan Altima hybrid car models represent a real success if judged by the design and the green purposes they save. A mid-sized Sedan, Nissan Altima hybrid car will cost you around $33,000 approximately, but though the price may seem scary, it seems to be worth paying. As for the horsepower, you’ve got 158-horsepower to enjoy, resulting from the mix function of a gasoline and an electrical motor. The fuel feeding rate is not exactly the lowest in its category but it is considered pretty acceptable for a 2.5 engine. Even so, Nissan Altima hybrid car has almost no competition on the market from cars like Toyota Camry hybrid or Chevrolet Malibu hybrid that are also more affordable to more users.
