Luxury car, Sports Utility Vehicle and Crossover sales have  declined more than sales of standard and economical automobiles during this economic slump. No shocker there. Unnecessary expenses are frequently the first to get the ax when cash strapped consumers are holding on to the money they do have. Keeping up with the Joneses has fallen out of vogue during these lean economic times. Auto makers as well as firms across all industries are evaluating the profitability of their product lines just to stay alive. Just to stay competitive, they are having to stop production of less popular brands, for example Pontiac and Saturn. Why are they keeping their luxury cars? Because luxury cars continue to offer value.
