Car sales seems to have risen by a hell of a lot over the month of January but is this because people are thinking the recession is over or is it something else?
The Reasons
Well the sales have actually risen by a massive 29.8% from 2009 which is brilliant but lets not forget how much of a state the world was in last year. Many people were so worried on what the recession was going to do to them that were just not going to risk spending money on a new car.

It wasnt that long ago that business in the UK and US found themselves under a large amount of pressure when their margins were slashed due to a increase in petrol prices. Those companies that had transport operations felt the pressure more than most and it was common to see vehicle fleets reduced by more than half.
Fleets may need to be reduced even further now and companies pushed even closer towards breaking point as the government announces predicted further cost increases in the coming months. What is frustrating many business owners about this situation is the lack of information it gives them to predict profit margins. “We get a set of forcasts drawn up and then they mean nothing when petrol goes up so much” argues Jerry Henley, Managing Director of JHG Foods. Many business experts have predicted that 2009 will see similar levels of transport-based companies shut down as witnessed last year, which was around 15%.

It is common knowledge that the domain of the light commercial vehicle belongs firmly in the vice-like grip of the Ford Transit and has been for decades. There are, however, certain factions that have sprouted up are doing all they can to topple the Transit’s stranglehold on the market. Amongst these competitive spirits are such respected manufacturers as Peugeot and Renault, there is one particular rival that seems to be making a very good case for themselves indeed. The manufacturer I am writing about is Vauxhall.

Eco-Driving
A friend of mine has been charged with saving money by reducing his companies transportation costs. The business operates a fleet of vans and which are essential for their ongoing success. So my buddy is looking at two key ways to make some significant savings. He’s been warned that if the company can’t make savings on their transport costs then they’ll be likely to make some people redundant, so he is under some pressure.

Did you know the term “White Van Man” is attributed to Radio 2 DJ Sarah Kennedy way back in 1997? A fact she has no doubt been dining out on ever since.
In the eleven years that has elapsed since white van man was singled out for posing the greatest threat to society, world and home events have meant that maybe there are worse things in life than someone being discourteous towards us whilst driving.
